It's been over 3 years since my last release. Back then I had more tools, more friends, and more time. And I didn't think half as much.
These days it's just me (mostly) and I'm learning to do everything on my own. That aside, it's been 3 years of overthinking, procrastinating, and doing everything but release music.
But I'm finally getting my act together. While I haven't released anything per-se, it's been a prolific 3 years of writing, playing, and growing as an artist.
The Empty is one of my older songs, actually — my sound has really evolved since then. But before I get into the newer stuff, I wanted to pay respect to my younger self and get some of my back-catalogue out.
The Empty is the start of that project. I'm still learning to mix. Still learning to master. Hell, still finding my way around the DAW and mustering up the courage to hit "record".
But those things aren't going to stop me anymore from sharing my art and living my life.
So cheers to that, and cheers to you.
It won't be 3 years this time. I'm looking to share a new song every few weeks, spread between my other projects.
I look to forward to sharing that with you.
Till then,
— David Kennedy
